The No. 12-ranked USC men's volleyball team (0-0 overall, 0-0 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation), under new head coach Bill Ferguson, opens its 2007 season at the 43rd annual UC Santa Barbara/Elephant Bar Collegiate Invitational this Friday and Saturday (Jan. 5-6). The Trojans open play with a pair of matches on Friday, at 1 p.m versus No. 6 UC Santa Barbara (0-0) and then at 7 p.m. against either No. 14 Pacific (0-0) or No. 3 UCLA (0-0), the defending NCAA champion. On Saturday, matches are at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 4 p.m. and the championship match at 6 p.m. Others in the 8-team tourney are No. 1 UC Irvine, No. 9 Cal State Northridge, No. 10 Long Beach State and unranked Stanford.
