Oklahoma State tennis standout Ivan Puchkarov has gained the No. 1 ranking in the Central Region after an outstanding fall season.Puchkarov entered the 2006 fall season ranked No. 61 in the country. The junior showed early that the ranking would not hold true as he advanced to the round of 16 at the prestigious Polo All-American Championship, won the Central Region title and advanced to the semifinals of the National IndoorChampionship. The Simfevopol, Ukraine native finished the fall with a 14-2 record with his lone losses came against eventual national champion Arnau Brugues, Tulsa, and to No. 1-ranked Ben Kohlloeffel of UCLA. Kohlloeffel, the defending national indoor champion, defeated Puchkarov in a third-set tiebreaker in the National Indoor semifinals.Returning Cowboy All-American Daniel Byrnes comes in at No. 11 in the Central Region.
