Undergraduate student biomedical research laboratory opportunity: We are a laboratory in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Division of Thoracic Surgery, focused on Diaphragm (respiratory muscle) atrophy and dysfunction related to mechanical ventilation, and on development of new lung cancer therapies. As a student, you will have the opportunity to participate in any/all of the ongoing projects in the lab, learning and carrying out molecularly and cellular techniques including cell culture, plasmid preparation, and PCR. You will also participate in small animal (mouse/rat) studies that require techniques such as genotyping, maintaining mouse colonies, as well as intraoperative and post-surgery care and vital sign monitoring. We hope to engage a student early in their Stanford career who could then participate throughout their undergraduate time. Work would be for credit. Approximately 10 hours per week. Please send resumes/CV’s to
