Floodgate | Chief of Staff to Mike Maples Jr. Full-Time | SF Bay Area | Start: Early 2026 The Role Floodgate is looking for a Chief of Staff to work directly with co-founding partner, Mike Maples Jr. A few of Mike’s notable investments included Twitter, Twitch, Okta, and Applied Intuition. This is a full-time, in-person role based in the San Francisco Bay Area. You will work with Mike most hours of the day across investing, diligence, company building, and continuously raising the bar for how Floodgate operates as a fund. This is not a 9–5 role; the right candidate will be excited to work both smart and hard. What You’ll Do Be a Force-Multiplier for Mike Maples Jr ● Partner with Mike on daily prioritization, decision-making, and execution ● Translate high-level strategy and ideas into concrete actions and follow-through ● Ensure nothing important drops while moving fast Investing & Founder Support ● Support sourcing, evaluation, and diligence of early-stage startups ● Help prepare for founder meetings, partner discussions, and investment decisions ● Track insights across founders, markets, and emerging patterns Lead Floodgate’s Operational Improvements ● Drive internal projects that level up Floodgate’s operating cadence ● Help evolve how the firm identifies and supports category-defining companies ● Improve systems, workflows, and knowledge capture Who This Role Is For You might be a strong fit if you are: ● Relentlessly optimistic and highly organized ● Deeply competitive with a real drive to be excellent ● Fast-moving with a bias toward action and follow-through ● Some exposure to startups or venture ● Confident but low-ego, comfortable being wrong and learning quickly ● Energized by proximity to excellence and high standards What You’ll Get ● Daily apprenticeship with an n-of-1 investor and thinker ● Front-row exposure to 0-to-1 company formation and category creation ● Working hands-on at the frontier of AI and emerging technologies ● Location & Timing Location: SF Bay Area (in-person) Start: Early 2026 Commitment: Full-time
