Hello! We have a bedroom available in our beautiful 8-bedroom, 5.5 bathroom Los Altos home! The house is located near Esther Clark park - we have deer wandering through our spacious backyard and can hear owls hooting at night. The bedroom is located on the second floor with a massive south facing window overlooking the backyard and an inbuilt closet. We are a group of eight housemates. Some of our members have been here for over 3 years, and some of us are new, but folks usually stay a year or more. We all have our own schedules, but we occasionally do planned group get-togethers like house dinners, board game nights, hikes, movie nights, and wine tasting. Our group is social and welcoming while also being accommodating and respectful of one another’s boundaries. Professionally we are graduate students, engineers, scientists, retail personnel, nurses, assistants, and more. Currently we have an elderly cat living with us. The house is filled with beautiful artwork made by one of our housemates. Several of us are cyclists, climbers, and artists. Most of us are in our 20s to mid 30s, though we don’t discriminate on the basis of age. Parties are rare but we do them right. We absolutely do not tolerate racism, sexism, hate speech, or other discriminatory language or behavior. The house has numerous amenities. The finished basement includes a home gym area, pool table, and couches + TV. Our massive backyard has a patio, fire-pit, compost area, raised garden beds, and room for games like badminton, volleyball, and spikeball. The large kitchen has a central island with a butcher block, 6-burner ceramic stovetop, and all the kitchenware + appliances you could want. Everyone has their own fridge + shelf space, though we share common items like spices, oils, and condiments and occasionally end up cooking and sharing meals together. There is a dining room and two large living rooms on the ground level with views to the backyard through panoramic windows. The walls are decorated with artwork from a current housemate. The rent for the room is $1580/month, utilities are typically around $100-150/month depending on usage and include internet, gas, electric, trash, water, and heating. Gardeners care for the landscaping weekly, which is included in the rent. The refundable security deposit is 1 month of rent. We prefer that housemates will commit to stay at least six months.
