Hello! I have a beautiful studio in Berkeley to rent this summer. Please read below if interested:
I am renting my beautiful Berkeley large studio with shared bathroom from June 10 to September 10th, 2023 (but dates negotiable). This is a large light-filled studio with its own kitchen, private entrance, dishwasher. The only thing that is shared is the bathroom, with one other very clean and kind mid-thirties person. In unit washer/dryer is next to the bathroom.
THE SPACE: is a fully furnished with a super comfy couch, desk and chair, armchair, full sized bed, and all the trappings of a home: dishes, kitchen supplies, appliances (kettle, Vitamix, toaster, rice cooker, etc.), sheets, towels, pillows, high-speed wifi, and loads of books. You may also use my bike, if you wish. The space is not ideal for hosting events or groups - while you are free to have someone in the space from time to time, this place is not right for you if you're planing to host things.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD: Very close to UC Berkeley, 6 min walk to Berkeley Bowl, multiple BART stops within walking distance, 4 minute walk to #6 bus line, Yoga studio 5 min away (or 1 min on bike), 10 minute bike to trader joes, and super close to college ave shops and restaurants. It's a great place to live!
THE MONEY: You will pay $1700 per month (per 30 days) + Utilities, which vary but are split between 5 people. Last month I payed around $180 total for shared internet, gardening fee, PG&E, water. There is an $800 dollar security deposit which you will receive back given that there is no significant damage to the items or space beyond regular wear and tear.
You are one kind, reliable person (no couples or people with pets, I'm sorry!), a student or working professional who is tidy and considerate, and an amazing communicator. Ideally you can stay the full time, but this is somewhat flexible. You appreciate a pretty space and know how to keep it clean, and you are not a smoker. You can verify that you make enough money or have saved enough money to afford the space, and you can confirm your real identity through a valid form of ID. The person moving into the space should be prepared to sign a contract that clearly states the start and end dates of your stay. The ideal person will have a clear plan for when this rental ends. Hopefully you're ok with some basic watering of plants during your stay as well! This rental is perfect for someone who is scoping out housing in the area for an upcoming move, wants a temporary escape in the bay, or is in between situations and needs a place that already has all of the basics + more. I personally don't have a car - if you do, you'll have to figure out street parking on your own accord (which my housemates do with no issue).
I am a late twenties writer and researcher at Stanford (yes I live in Berkeley - the commute by car is 50 min and I only go in 1x per week). I am only willing to rent to someone who is responsible, kind, and reliable. Many of my treasured things are in this space so I want to feel very secure in who I leave it with. I am a kind and direct communicator, and I intentionally cultivate a home that is cute and peaceful. I have had only positive experiences with subletters and hope to continue!
You won't have much interaction with my lovely housemates as you'll have your own entrance and private space. But if you do: they are mid-thirties students and professionals who are friendly and easy going, but we all maintain very independent lives. We are a group of people from various cultural/ethnic/racial backgrounds, genders, and sexual orientations, and the person who takes this space should share kind and accepting energy of this home.
If this sounds like it could be a match made in heaven, please reach out to me via text or email and tell me:
1) Who you are and a little bit about you
2) Your current housing situation and why this short term rental appeals to you
3) When you're available for an in person or virtual tour"
