Between January 1, 2022, and January 14, 2022, the Department of Public Safety (DPS) has received multiple reports of theft and attempted theft of motorcycles and electric bikes. In that time frame, two motorcycles were stolen and one was damaged in an attempted theft, and two electric bikes were also stolen. The location for the motorcycle thefts and attempted theft was the Manzanita Field Garage. One electric bike was taken from the area of Governor's Avenue and the other was taken near the Escondido Village Graduate Residences. When you purchase a bike or scooter, take a picture of it, retain the proof-of-purchase receipt, and document the serial number. In the event your property is stolen, the receipt and serial number will be beneficial for investigative follow-up.
