We are a house of two Stanford medical students (male) and a Stanford medical resident (found through an earlier SU Posting) that unfortunately will have our Google engineering friend leaving us for new opportunities outside the Bay. We are looking for young professionals, preferably male, looking for a friendly and warm home environment. We are flexible about start dates but would want someone who join us between June 1st and July 1st. We are looking for a long term commitment although we are open to discussing what timing works best for you. $1,400 for the master bedroom, a premium for its own private entrance and being the largest room (details below). We all split utilities (top tier WiFi, electric, gas, water) consistently around $60-$100 a month.
Location (I'll save you the Maps Searh )
This is a GREAT place to live. We are both coming from Stanford housing and could not be more happy with the location. We are located on Kittoe Dr in Mountain View (will share full address through email).
Google and NASA are a 15 minute bike ride away (per our roommates times) and downtown Mountain View is 10 minutes. The Cal-Train station downtown is extremely reliable and perfect for those looking to commute to Stanford campus or San Jose. We (the med students) usually ride the train to Stanford (15 minutes from our door to the Palo Alto station) or carpool together. We are right next to highway 85 that links up with the 101 to get you to campus within 15-20 minutes depending on traffic.
Downtown also has some great bars and restaurants, we are working our way through. In the immediate walking area around us there are a couple shopping centers with a Mexican market, Mexican restaurant, donut shop and cafe that we can highly recommend, as well as a 711 and liquor store for any late night runs. The closest large grocery store is a Safeway within a 5 minute drive, although we tend to make the 10 minute trip to San Antonio shopping center Trader Joes/Target/Whole Foods or Costco (I have a membership that I happily share with everyone in the house who appreciates a $5 rotisserie chicken).
The neighborhood is extremely peaceful and quiet with excellent neighbors and ample (free) street parking in addition to our drive way. If you're into the outdoors Stephen's Creek trail is right nearby and is a wonderful run that links up with the Bay area trails to give you a wonderful view of the water.
The Space
We are part of a 2 unit property. Our neighbor is a lovely couple that has been in the unit for many years now. We share a common drive way that parks 4 cars comfortably. Parking in the drive way tends to be for whoever has the most accommodating schedule amongst us. Though street parking is super easy and in such a safe neighborhood it tends to be everyone's preferred method.
Our unit is 4 bedroom and 2 bath. The house layout is kind of split where two bedrooms share a bathroom and the other two share another. Overall, the the common spaces and kitchen is already furnished by us at no extra charge for you to use anything. It comes equipped with a smart lock, smart thermostat, Wifi speakers throughout, central heating (no cooling but we all have small AC units for the summer time), washer-dryer, and stainless steal appliances. Last things to know about the space is that it is pet friendly but none of us currently have a dog or cat and all roommates need to be on-board before bringing in a pet, overnight guests are perfectly okay with us but be sure to let us know, and the walls are very thin so being courteous about noise to your other roommates is important to us.
Pictured is your room. This is the best room in the house with its own private entrance right next to the front door and with its own set of keys. You can access the kitchen through the short bathroom hallway and through one of the other bedrooms (I tend to leave this door open most of the time) or you can just go in through the main door. There is a large closets with plenty of storage space. Our roommate has also left a very high quality bed frame and matching desk available for purchase at a "VERY reasonable price" since he would prefer not to have to come back down to pick them up. The bathroom is right down a small hall next to the closet and has two medicine cabinets/mirrors so you would have your own storage space. Your room is also closer to the wifi router so you get our full 500mb/s.
The common space is where we spend most of our time together and we just bought new furniture for it. The coaches are super comfortable with cushions we made ourselves to. The large window lets in so much light its a great study and work space as well. The big screen TV is paired with a new surround sound system, a chromecast ultra with Disney Plus, Hulu No Ads, HBO Now, and our personal Plex server with a collection of over 600 movies. We always have a whiteboard with a list of movies we will be watching or rewatching over the next month. We tend to have shoes off in the house as well to keep things clean.
We both love to cook and therefore have made the most additions to the kitchen. All the appliances were new for our move-in and all function great. We've added the center island with hidden storage shelves that we use as both a cooking space and breakfast table. We also added in two additional shelves to keep our most used ingredients and cooking tools in easy reach. Not pictured are the instant pot, stand mixer, magic bullet, emulsion blender, and the pride of our kitchen a new air-fryer/convection oven/toaster that we absolutely love.
The backyard gets the most use in the summer, particularly the barbell rack that is usually covered with a canopy to keep the sun away during your workout. There is also plenty of seating space around our firepit. We are working on getting some more patio furniture for some outdoor barbeques and dinners. The washer-dryer is also in the backyard within a small shed. The front yard is made up of red gravel and all the trees and shrubs are taken care by a landscaper that is provided by the landlord.
Your Roommates
As mentioned earlier we are two Stanford medical students entering our 3rd year and an incoming resident. We come from Los Angeles, New York and North Carolina. As medical students we have been best friends since meeting on the interview trail. Surgery and emergency medicine are our respective goals for specialties though we all have plenty of gross medical stories and trivia. We love videogames and Smash Bros game nights are a usual. As you can gather we also love movies! Weekly trips to the AMC theater and In-n-Out (within 10 minutes of our place) always have space for anyone in the house. We are musicians (though we both use headphone headphones so don't worry about a loud drummer in the house) and love arguing about music. We are really easy going and tend to help each other out as much as possible with chores and maintaining a clean space. We want our (new) roommates to feel welcome and part of the house. You are welcome to having guests or SO's over and suggesting ways we can improve the space to fit your needs.
Please reach out with any questions and if you would like a Facetime/Zoom tour of the house.
