Nice in-law unit built in 2013 is available in a good location on the border of Redwood City and Woodside, close to 280 and Woodside Road, just off Alameda, about 10 minutes from Stanford.
Approximately 450 sq ft in-law unit is attached to the house. It has a separate entry with a small, private yard.
Kitchen includes refrigerator, oven, stove, sink, microwave. Bathroom is marble tile with shower over a deep soaker tub. Flooring in the rest of the unit is hardwood. Unit also includes private washer and dryer.
The job entails 10 hours per week of chores.
Most of these chores involve taking care of the animals. The animals include our pets as well as rescues in the non-profit. (You can put non-profit work experience on your future resume after doing this job.) The chores can be dirty... cleaning out cages, cleaning up poop.
Other chores include yard work, house work, errands, occasionally helping to lift/move heavy items (not necessary if something is too heavy), and occasionally petsitting/babysitting our animals and child.
The hours are relatively flexible. The chores can be done 3 days during the week that are spaced out. For example, Saturday, Tuesday, Thursday. Or you can spread the hours out over additional days, if you wish.
For example, 3-8 hours of the chores can be done in a single day if you wish, with the remaining hours split up over 2 days. In other words, if you choose to do 8 hours of chores on Saturday, then you only need to do 1 hour on Tuesday and 1 hour on Thursday. (This is just an example schedule. You can choose different days and blocks of time.)
The hours can be flexible, but they must be done during daylight hours because the animals sleep at night.
We prefer someone with experience caring for animals, enjoys taking care of animals, and doesn't mind cleaning out dirty cages. Experience helps but isn't required, as long as you are willing to learn.
There is no smoking allowed in the unit or anywhere on the property. No smoking means no cigarettes, no pot, or anything else.
In exchange for this work, the rent is reduced by $1000 (typically it rents for at least $2000), and includes PG&E, water, sewer, garbage, cable, internet.
Furnished with a queen size bed and a couch, or unfurnished if you wish.
We might possibly allow a well-behaved, relatively quiet pet for an extra monthly charge, as long as you don't go on vacation and ask us to take care of it, as we already have our hands full.
If you are interested, please respond with information about 1. your experience, including a CV, resume, OR a LinkedIn or other profile, 2. hours of availability, 3. how long you would like to live and work here, and 4. any other information that you think may be helpful in figuring out if this is a good fit.
Feel free to ask questions if you'd like more information, but we will only show the unit to someone who has supplied the info above and seems like a potentially good fit. Thank you!
