I, for one, am relieved the world has not yet ended today, Dec 21, 2012. Although, 4 hours and 4 minutes still remain in "today" in California, USA. Additional hours beyond that still remain in other parts of the world, eg, Hawaii, which has a delayed time zone. Nevertheless, I remain optimistic that the world will not end today. If we survive until Dec 22, 2012, this means that either: (1) the Mayans incorrectly predicted the world's end on Dec 21, 2012. (2) our modern interpretation of the Mayan's prediction was an incorrect misinterpretation. (3) the Mayan's definition of "the world" was more limited in scope, eg, the term, "the world", consisted of solely of "the Mayan civilization". In fact, the Mayan civilization is now generally considered extinct. So, in that respect, the prediction became accurate already at the time of the collapse of the Mayan civilization. Though, certainly, descendants of the Mayan people still do live today. Regardless of these reasons, I feel thankful for the existence of the world, it's continued existence and my own existence on Earth. I think we all may want to take a moment to reflect on actual known threats to the existence of life on Earth, namely (1) total Nuclear War, and (2) destruction of the habitability of life on Earth through Climate Change. I think we all have a responsibility to steer world events away from such tragic outcomes. Godspeed, people of Earth.
