TEEN VOLUNTEERS WANTED FOR A RESEARCH STUDY AT LUCILE PACKARD CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL You can participate, if you are:  10-19 years old  Overweight  Interested in a 12 week ¬home exercise & nutrition program  Have computer & internet access  Can come to Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford for a 3-hour test at the start & end of the study (so only twice!)  Are able to come to testing after fasting overnight  Do not smoke  Do not take any medications Here is information about the study tests:  EndoPAT: 2 painless probes are placed on your index fingers. These probes record changes in blood flow. During this recording, a blood pressure cuff will be inflated on one upper arm for five minutes. Your arm might fall asleep while the cuff is inflated.  Carotid Ultrasound: A test which uses sound waves to examine the blood vessels in your neck - it’s also painless  Tonometry- A tiny pen like-probe will record the pulse in your arm, neck, and leg by a light touch on the skin (also painless).  Exercise testing to assess your exercise capacity (how much you can exert yourself).  Blood-work will be obtained on both visits.  Each testing day will be approximately 3 hours.
